I met Stucci's when I was a freshman in college. I was young and impressionable and my peers encouraged me to date Ben & Jerry's (which was next door). I did what they advised - figuring they knew best -- but I'd always glance back at Stucci's when I walked by, and when his eyes met mine I'd feel butterflies in my stomach. One day I broke the mold and decided to make my own decision about what ice cream was allowed to enter my mouth, and Stucchi's and I went on our first date. It was magical. The range of flavors -- ones I hadn't ever known existed!!! -- like Grasshopper Pie, which quickly became my favorite. It is mint ice cream with chocolate cookies (not chips! Because chocolate chips get hard and tasteless when they're cold while cookies stay delicious and chocolatey). Needless to say, Stucci's and I were swell friends from that day on, and I never let my friends' opinion of ice cream dictate who I gave my heart and stomach to again.

I love Stucchi's! It reminds me of the good old days of being a college student with ice cream readily available down State street. I got a medium which was four small scoops of blueberry cheesecake and key line pie. I love fruity desserts and I really appreciate the bread crumbs that is supposed to resemble tart crusts. My friend got the mackinaw fudge and grasshopper which is basically mint chocolate chip and both were great. There were huge chunks of fudge! I also tried the salted caramel and was pleasantly surprised that there were chunks of caramel in the ice cream. So delicious and always a pleasant experience! Plus, there is a 10% off opportunity with a Yelp check in!

Stucchi's is a blatant alternative to its next door neighbor, Ben & Jerry's. I suppose those who prefer a more down-home, less flashy and colorful atmosphere and who want to support a purely Michigan establishment would pay a little more for the experience at Stucchi's. They have a fun chalkboard wall next to the seats in the back, but a more subdued no-frills decor overall. Being lactose intolerant I'm limited when it comes to ice cream parlors to begin with, so while there's something to be said for supporting the smaller local businesses with respect to sorbet taste it's comparable to its more massively commercialized neighbor.

Cute little ice cream shop. It's odd that it's located right next door to Ben & Jerry's but at least people have options. Seeing as B&J is a national chain I decided to go with the road less traveled. I ordered ordered a small (2 scoops) sugar cone. I decided on cookies and cream. It tasted like standard cookies and cream. Tasty and enjoyable. The young girls working there were all friendly too. I'd say they definitely could use a few more employees though for the size of the crowd. But overall it was a carefree enjoyable experience.

Stopping into Stucchi's this weekend brought me back to my college days. Stucchi's is a staple on the University of Michigan campus. When you think ice cream in Ann Arbor, you think Stucchi's. My husband and I were in Michigan this past weekend for a wedding and no trip to Michigan is complete without a visit to my old stomping grounds, U of M. After a delicious lunch, I promised my husband that I'd treat him to Stucchi's for dessert. I was disappointed to see that the South U location had closed, since it was right near where we grabbed lunch. It was a nicer day, so we decided to walk to the State Street location. So glad it's still there! The staff is extremely friendly! They have little tasting spoons, so you can try out a few flavors before you make your selection. I really enjoy their Cookies & Cream. My husband opted to get Mint Chip, which he proceeded to devour. While he was scarfing down his ice cream, he told me that it was the best Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream he has ever eaten, and he's had many. That just sums Stucchi's up perfectly. Stucchi's is homemade ice cream, made in the state of Michigan. They are creative with their flavors. They offer 2 couches and plenty of tables and chairs for your dining comfort. My only complaint is that it's a bit on the pricey side. A small ice cream will run you $3.49 + tax. But it is homemade, so you get what you pay for. It's definitely worth indulging in every once in a while.

I can't say enough great things about the "junior" size option! My kids always want ice cream, but the larger portions at so many places leave them either sick or throwing ice cream away. This small portion and small price make getting ice cream regularly a-okay. The young girl working behind the counter was warm and friendly. What keeps it from being 5 stars? There were lots of dirty tables that needed attention, and with just one person working and a steady stream of people coming in, they were staying dirty!

About a door down from Ben & Jerry's is Stucchi's. They have completely different flavors--ones that are much more traditional and what's nice is that they have sorbet and frozen yogurt. I tried some flavors but none really wowed me. -Buffalo: it tastes sorta like a Mousse Tracks with little peanut butter balls that burst--how yummy. The ice cream is pretty creamy but the waffle cup it comes in is quite stale. FINAL VERDICT: there's more to be desired out of this creamery.

I have such an emotional connection with Stucchi's as being a very Umich thing for me. It was a regular event for Circle K socials and hot summer days. My favorite flavors are Apple Crumb (like an apple pie a la mode) and White Russian (It even takes a little like alcohol!). I've never heard of Stucchi's being "pretentious." Who would actually eat ice cream to be seen? I'm sorry, that's really stupid.

so i'm not a huge ice cream fan (i think it was all those combined years pulling cones and making shakes at first dairy queen and then TCBY). but when i crave ice cream i almost always want stucchi's grasshopper pie: mint ice cream with pieces of an oreo-like cookie (only the cookie, not the white). i LOVE this ice cream. i think also that whenever i eat it i am in ann arbor and i'm feeling just a little bit nostalgic for those college days.

I can't judge the quality of ice cream against the chain place right next door, but even if it is higher, it certainly isn't worth spending that kind of time in a line, in a non- or barely air-conditioned room. I really like Stucchi's. This will be one place I miss when I leave Ann Arbor. I'm a pretty big Fro Yo Fan. I haven't tried their Ice Cream or Shakes. With that said... the Apple Crisp (I think that's what they call it) Frozen Yogurt is amazing. The prices are cheap as well. Sometimes, you don't need to customize your ice cream flavors (a la Cold Stone) because others do it so well. At Stucchi's, that is the case. :)

irresistible flavors especially the ones with chocolate candy already in the mix like Texas Tea. The real ice cream is better than the frozen yogurt, but the selection is always good. I've never tried the soft serve but it also appears popular. Just one thing I want to know: what makes the Superman ice cream so appealing to little kids? All the little ones coming out of the shop seem to have mainly blue ice cream all over their faces. Indicator: the lines are always longer here than at Ben and Jerry's next door.

Mackinaw Island Fudge! Many warm summer afternoons ended with a stop here. Never disappointing, always worth the wait, only losing a star for my preference towards weird flavors that aren't really what Stucchi's "does." Start with the cardamom and brown sugar and I'll revisit that missing star. :)

First of all, if you are in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area and want good ice-cream...get in your car and get over to Windsor, Ontario. Canadian Ice Cream, with all of its milk fat, now that's the stuff. That said, this place is OK. Still, what's the deal here? I was at Stucchi's on a warm day last week and this poor girl is all alone behind the counter with a line out door! The yogurt and ice-cream are very good, though. As are the flurries and shakes. I am not a fan of the prices, which seemed to have jumped from where they were in the innocent summers of yesteryear. But I would choose it over Ben and Jerry's (next door), just for the flurries.

I like Stucchi's, and I like that they're local and their ice cream is home-made. There's not really anywhere else in Ann Arbor like them. I like the mint w/ Oreo flavor. I can't remember what it's called, but it's delish. Once I got a milkshake, and perhaps it was just a fluke, but the girl took like 10 minutes to make it because she didn't use enough milk and it was wayyyy too thick, I couldn't drink it. I was just watching her make it, like girlfriend, add some more milk. This only bothers me this much because I've worked at an ice cream place and I know how to make a kickass milkshake. But anyway, their flavors are good, they have some original flavors you can't get elsewhere, and they're local, so I like supporting them. I believe they have a $5 card minimum, which is annoying when your ice cream is like $4.75 and you don't have cash.

Stucchi's is overpriced, but so are many of these "local ice-cream establishments". You can easily purchase similar tasting ice-cream at your local Kroger's for a much cheaper price, but if you want to shell out a bit more for the sake of being a guest at a quaint ice-cream shop, then this is the place for you! They have quite a large selection of flavors compare to other ice-cream shops, as well as waffle cones. The only reason I came was because of the 10% deal off if you check in on Yelp. Also, they do take credit cards if your purchases are under $5...they accepted mine. Fun for a hot, rainy (you get free sprinkles) summer day, but it can be cheaper. Quality is comparable to the premium ice-cream you can get for a cheaper price at your local grocery stores.

Do you ever think, "Wow! This place would be great if only they didn't let kids come in here?" Welcome to Stucchi's Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt. Stucchi's needs to soundproof itself with the egg crate-like foam that radio stations use in their sound booths. The echoing sounds of the screeching and yelling hoards of kids at the time of my visit was enough to shatter crystal. Trust me. The ice cream, on the other hand, was topnotch. I had caramel malted something or other, and it was flavorful and delightful in every way. It helped to sooth my child-knotted nerves. Also, the staff was extremely efficient, polite, and patient. I would definitely go back, but I wouldn't set foot inside until the coast was clear. Flocks of high-pitched screaming children must be avoided at all cost!

I think a big reason of why Stucchi's does well is their prime location. The store smells weird to me, and I'm not a fan of the dim lighting (in a bargain basement with flickering fluorescent lights kind of dim, as opposed to a romantic candlelit table kind of dim). I've been in here a few times after hearing all the local love for this company. Unfortunately, I didn't think there was anything that special about the ice cream. All the ones I've tried were extremely mediocre, but that alone doesn't warrant a negative review. I would have given another star star if it weren't for the downright rudeness of the staff every single time I went in there, and the packs of people in the massive line. Now that Bubble Island has delicious, tart frozen yogurt, there's no reason at all to waste your money and time here.

You are allowed to try 4 different flavours. I tried the Almond Joy, the chocolate peanut butter, the key lime pie, and the raspberry. Of all of them, not a single one had any iota of flavour. They were blan and not memorable in the least. I probably won't be coming back.

Best ice cream in the city! It's a local business (woo hoo!), they have delicious ice cream (double woo!), and they have a great selection of delicious frozen yogurt as well (woooooo!) Did I mention the servings are huge? Well they are. I've gone to this place since I was old enough to hold one of those little plastic spoons, and it is in no way pretentious. Unless by pretentious you mean deliciousness awesomeness... They used to have a location on Washtenaw as well, but sadly it closed :( My favorite is the chocolate mint cookie...I miss it dearly.

I love Stucchi's. First off, when have I ever given ice cream a bad review? Ice cream is always delicious- and it's fun to just drop in and get randomly, far less of a commitment than a full meal. I have no idea why ice cream would be pretentious. My only complaint would be that it tends to get rather crowded inside. I really enjoyed their peppermint though. And I agree- support local businesses, go to Stucchi's!

I'd really like to hop on the Stucchi's bandwagon here, but I just can't. I like supporting "local" businesses, but they have to make me want to go there. I'll start on a positive note though, listing some good qualities. Stucchi's has a good, even great ice cream/ frozen yogurt selection and I think it tastes better than Ben & Jerry's. That's ultimately the only positive for me. Being a local business, I expect smiling faces to greet me or at least feel welcomed that I'm giving them business and not bothering them. There's one guy in particular that works there who makes you feel like you're interrupting him to order, not a big fan of that. Also, turn on a light--I think it's great to save $ and the planet, but it's always so dark in there, again, not very welcoming. Lastly, I have a major issue with their non-acceptance of credit cards for purchases under $5. It's a self-imposed rule that they are not allowed to enforce. Honestly, I don't pay cash for much these days and I would gladly go to Ben & Jerry's right next door before I pay $1.50 ATM charge to pay for ice cream in cash. I feel like this really turned into a rant, but I've been going to this place for upwards of 7 years now to "support the local economy" and the service never improves. They're ice cream is delicious, so if that's all you care about, then feel free to ignore my opinion.

I'm going to sound like an indie-elitist snob, but not for the sake of being snobby -- more for the sake of supporting local businesses, which I like to do when possible. Since Ben and Jerry's and Kilwin's are chains and Washtenaw Dairy serves Mooney's (the plant is no longer located in Detroit), I like to pop in at Stucchi's and order the delicious things I've found there. Stucchi's makes on-point blizzard things. Their "Almond Joy" is amazing -- they put almonds, chocolate, coconut, and vanilla ice cream into the shake maker and out comes spoonfuls of lovely indulgent candy bar in ice cream form. They have junior scoops, which are $2 including tax, and it is a fair amount of ice cream that's still bigger than Ben and Jerry's. I'm a fan of the cookies and cream and the mango sorbet. I recommend you taste before you buy because some flavors are lacking, but the good ones are really good. I'll still visit Kilwin's, too, but I do not feel I suffer lack of quality coming to Stucchi's. Kilwin's also does not have ice cream cakes! Stucchi's does, and you can buy little pints of ice cream.

Sometimes, you don't need to customize your ice cream flavors (a la Cold Stone) because others do it so well. At Stucchi's, that is the case. :)

irresistible flavors especially the ones with chocolate candy already in the mix like Texas Tea. The real ice cream is better than the frozen yogurt, but the selection is always good. I've never tried the soft serve but it also appears popular. Just one thing I want to know: what makes the Superman ice cream so appealing to little kids? All the little ones coming out of the shop seem to have mainly blue ice cream all over their faces. Indicator: the lines are always longer here than at Ben and Jerry's next door.

Mackinaw Island Fudge! Many warm summer afternoons ended with a stop here. Never disappointing, always worth the wait, only losing a star for my preference towards weird flavors that aren't really what Stucchi's "does." Start with the cardamom and brown sugar and I'll revisit that missing star. :)

First of all, if you are in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area and want good ice-cream...get in your car and get over to Windsor, Ontario. Canadian Ice Cream, with all of its milk fat, now that's the stuff. That said, this place is OK. Still, what's the deal here? I was at Stucchi's on a warm day last week and this poor girl is all alone behind the counter with a line out door! The yogurt and ice-cream are very good, though. As are the flurries and shakes. I am not a fan of the prices, which seemed to have jumped from where they were in the innocent summers of yesteryear. But I would choose it over Ben and Jerry's (next door), just for the flurries.

I like Stucchi's, and I like that they're local and their ice cream is home-made. There's not really anywhere else in Ann Arbor like them. I like the mint w/ Oreo flavor. I can't remember what it's called, but it's delish. Once I got a milkshake, and perhaps it was just a fluke, but the girl took like 10 minutes to make it because she didn't use enough milk and it was wayyyy too thick, I couldn't drink it. I was just watching her make it, like girlfriend, add some more milk. This only bothers me this much because I've worked at an ice cream place and I know how to make a kickass milkshake. But anyway, their flavors are good, they have some original flavors you can't get elsewhere, and they're local, so I like supporting them. I believe they have a $5 card minimum, which is annoying when your ice cream is like $4.75 and you don't have cash.

Stucchi's is overpriced, but so are many of these "local ice-cream establishments". You can easily purchase similar tasting ice-cream at your local Kroger's for a much cheaper price, but if you want to shell out a bit more for the sake of being a guest at a quaint ice-cream shop, then this is the place for you! They have quite a large selection of flavors compare to other ice-cream shops, as well as waffle cones. The only reason I came was because of the 10% deal off if you check in on Yelp. Also, they do take credit cards if your purchases are under $5...they accepted mine. Fun for a hot, rainy (you get free sprinkles) summer day, but it can be cheaper. Quality is comparable to the premium ice-cream you can get for a cheaper price at your local grocery stores.

Stucchi's satisfied my Memorial Day weekend craving for mint chocolate chip ice cream. Ordered a coffee too that was also good. They also have several interesting frozen yogurt flavors. I sampled the key lime pie froyo but then decided to stick with ice cream. Great little spot if you are in the mood for a frozen treat!

Do you ever think, "Wow! This place would be great if only they didn't let kids come in here?" Welcome to Stucchi's Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt. Stucchi's needs to soundproof itself with the egg crate-like foam that radio stations use in their sound booths. The echoing sounds of the screeching and yelling hoards of kids at the time of my visit was enough to shatter crystal. Trust me. The ice cream, on the other hand, was topnotch. I had caramel malted something or other, and it was flavorful and delightful in every way. It helped to sooth my child-knotted nerves. Also, the staff was extremely efficient, polite, and patient. I would definitely go back, but I wouldn't set foot inside until the coast was clear. Flocks of high-pitched screaming children must be avoided at all cost!

I think a big reason of why Stucchi's does well is their prime location. The store smells weird to me, and I'm not a fan of the dim lighting (in a bargain basement with flickering fluorescent lights kind of dim, as opposed to a romantic candlelit table kind of dim). But I do like the White Russian ice cream.

One of the better ice cream shops in Ann Arbor. They give you a lot of ice cream but it's fairly pricy. I usually go there because I like the flavors better than Ben and Jerry's. It's mostly clean and kid friendly.

Just a nice place to get ice cream (or frozen yogurt) or a milkshake on campus. Ben & Jerry's is also nice but Stucchi's feels like you're in Ann Arbor and at a local place. Staff is very friendly and the store is bright and clean, and everyone seems to enjoy the place. Yes ice cream is expensive and so I don't go out to get it a lot, but when I do I like this place.

I've been in here a few times after hearing all the local love for this company. Unfortunately, I didn't think there was anything that special about the ice cream. All the ones I've tried were extremely mediocre, but that alone doesn't warrant a negative review. I would have given another star star if it weren't for the downright rudeness of the staff every single time I went in there, and the packs of people in the massive line. Now that Bubble Island has delicious, tart frozen yogurt, there's no reason at all to waste your money and time here.

I would have given it a four, because I loved the coconut ice cream! It tasted fresh and natural and actually had flavour. Now, as for the rest of the flavours. You are allowed to try 4 different flavours. I tried the Almond Joy, the chocolate peanut butter, the key lime pie, and the raspberry. Of all of them, not a single one had any iota of flavour. They were blan and not memorable in the least. I probably won't be coming back.

Best ice cream in the city! It's a local business (woo hoo!), they have delicious ice cream (double woo!), and they have a great selection of delicious frozen yogurt as well (woooooo!) Did I mention the servings are huge? Well they are. I've gone to this place since I was old enough to hold one of those little plastic spoons, and it is in no way pretentious. Unless by pretentious you mean deliciousness awesomeness... They used to have a location on Washtenaw as well, but sadly it closed :( My favorite is the chocolate mint cookie...I miss it dearly.

I love Stucchi's. First off, when have I ever given ice cream a bad review? Ice cream is always delicious- and it's fun to just drop in and get randomly, far less of a commitment than a full meal. I have no idea why ice cream would be pretentious. My only complaint would be that it tends to get rather crowded inside. I really enjoyed their peppermint though. And I agree- support local businesses, go to Stucchi's!

I'd really like to hop on the Stucchi's bandwagon here, but I just can't. I like supporting "local" businesses, but they have to make me want to go there. I'll start on a positive note though, listing some good qualities. Stucchi's has a good, even great ice cream/ frozen yogurt selection and I think it tastes better than Ben & Jerry's. That's ultimately the only positive for me. Being a local business, I expect smiling faces to greet me or at least feel welcomed that I'm giving them business and not bothering them. There's one guy in particular that works there who makes you feel like you're interrupting him to order, not a big fan of that. Also, turn on a light--I think it's great to save $ and the planet, but it's always so dark in there, again, not very welcoming. Lastly, I have a major issue with their non-acceptance of credit cards for purchases under $5. It's a self-imposed rule that they are not allowed to enforce. Honestly, I don't pay cash for much these days and I would gladly go to Ben & Jerry's right next door before I pay $1.50 ATM charge to pay for ice cream in cash. I feel like this really turned into a rant, but I've been going to this place for upwards of 7 years now to "support the local economy" and the service never improves. They're ice cream is delicious, so if that's all you care about, then feel free to ignore my opinion.

What flavor did I order? The memory is eclipsed by my impression of the size of the smallest scoop - it must have been 3/4 of a pint! It wasn't bad or amazing - probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been a hot day and I weren't suffering from fat guilt.

I'm going to sound like an indie-elitist snob, but not for the sake of being snobby -- more for the sake of supporting local businesses, which I like to do when possible. Since Ben and Jerry's and Kilwin's are chains and Washtenaw Dairy serves Mooney's (the plant is no longer located in Detroit), I like to pop in at Stucchi's and order the delicious things I've found there. Stucchi's makes on-point blizzard things. Their "Almond Joy" is amazing -- they put almonds, chocolate, coconut, and vanilla ice cream into the shake maker and out comes spoonfuls of lovely indulgent candy bar in ice cream form. They have junior scoops, which are $2 including tax, and it is a fair amount of ice cream that's still bigger than Ben and Jerry's. I'm a fan of the cookies and cream and the mango sorbet. I recommend you taste before you buy because some flavors are lacking, but the good ones are really good. I'll still visit Kilwin's, too, but I do not feel I suffer lack of quality coming to Stucchi's. Kilwin's also does not have ice cream cakes! Stucchi's does, and you can buy little pints of ice cream.

Love it. When the cake batter ice cream has actual cake pieces in it, then I'm going to be happy (even though this particular scoop that I got tasted more like vanilla than cake batter, thus the missing fifth star.) I can't believe the scoopers manage to maintain such a positive attitude, given the amount of drunken nonsense I imagine they have to put up with.

Yum, Stucchi's rocks. If only they would bring back my favorite flavor, that one they seemed to only stock for three days during the summer of 1993: vanilla ice cream with whole chocolate covered espresso beans, and there may have even been a ribbon of caramel in it. Alas, now I live to far away to regular recon runs to see if they have it.

Heard so much about this place. And it lived up to its reputation. I think I tasted every flavor. They didn't even care. I finally decided on the strawberry cheesecake. It was sooo yummy!!! Worth the 10 lactaid pills I had to take with it :)

I'm sorry but I think this ice cream is overrated and expensive. I simply don't think its very good. Kilwin's is definitely a better quality choice. I wish there were more Kilwin's around town.
